The positive culture and ethos at Kaimes School relies on the dedication, hard work, skill and collaboration of our amazing colleagues. Our staff team consists of Pupil Support Assistants, Nursery Nurses, Office Administrators, Teachers and the wider Leadership Team.
We also work collaboratively with key partners such as NHS Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Skills Development Scotland. Our partnerships with Queen Margaret University and Edinburgh College support by providing student social care or therapy colleagues.

Support Staff
I was a PSA at Kaimes for two years from 2015 to 2017. I reluctantly left to study my Masters in Educational Psychology but missed being in the classroom so much that after graduating I then completed my teaching degree at Glasgow Uni. After completing my probationary year, I knew my next step was back into the special sector and luckily a job came up at Kaimes! Ever since I left as a PSA I always compared everything to Kaimes and nothing compared!
I found my resignation letter for resigning from my PSA post and in it I had written ‘ I hope that, at some point in the future, my career path will enable me to return to Kaimes.’ and I’m very happy that it did!
I am Luis and I am thrilled to be a part of the Kaimes School team as a Pupil Support Assistant. My professional background and experience are rooted in the realms of Art and Theater, and I am excited to merge my passions with the field of special education.
These experiences have underscored for me the paramount importance of creativity and artistic expression as invaluable tools in the development of autistic children.
I firmly believe that art can serve as a potent conduit for communication and personal growth, and I am enthusiastic about imparting this belief to our students. Our goal is to create an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can thrive. Let’s celebrate each person’s unique strengths and work together to make sure everyone feels valued and included.
I came to Kaimes after completing my HNC in Childhood Practice and working at a few mainstream primary schools in Midlothian. I wasn’t sure if an additional support needs school would be right for me but I was looking to challenge myself while also studying in my own time to become a teacher. 2 years later and I have nearly completed my degree and I hope to work in special education forever. The difference I have made to the lives of the young people I support and the friendships I have made with staff are some the reasons I enjoy working at Kaimes so much.
