Important Information

School Uniform

At Kaimes School we encourage the wearing of our school colours. We feel that this helps to build a sense of identity, pride and belonging within our school. It can also be a useful marker between home and school.

However, it is most important to us that learners feel comfortable in their clothes.

Clothing should be clearly named.

What to wear?

Dark coloured skirt, trousers, shorts or joggers
Red, white or black polo shirt
Red or black jumper
Dark coloured shoes or trainers

Young people in Kaimes do not usually get changed for PE but may choose to wear different clothing on PE days.

Where to buy uniform?

Non branded uniform can be purchased from a range of supermarkets and high street shops.

If you have old uniform to donate, please contact the School Office.

School Lunches

School lunches in Kaimes School are provided free to families. They can be ordered in advance online, and dietary or sensory requirements can be catered for.

Many of our young people also choose to bring in packed lunches.

Young people usually choose to eat lunch in the dining hall or adjoining Forum. Some young people choose to eat their lunch outside or in a quieter area of the school.

School Travel

Travel to and from Kaimes School is provided by The City of Edinburgh Council. This is usually in group transport in a council minibus or contracted taxi.

Admissions

Kaimes School is a specialist provision and spaces are allocated through the Education Resource Group.

Absence

If your child is due to be absent from school, please contact the school office each morning before the start of the school day.

Help & Support

For day-to-day matters, please liaise with your learner’s Base Class teacher.

To discuss wider matters regarding your learner’s wellbeing and learning, please contact your learner’s Pupil Support Leader.

You may also wish to contact Holly or Shona, our PSOs, who can help signpost you to wider services.
